You’re probably thinking…’what tools’? Ah well you know when I sit down to write I have to have a few certain things available for me to feel at ease. I heard that a lot of other writers have their ‘thing’ that they do to prepare for a writing session and I thought I would share mine. I don’t have a specific time to write because you know: life. But I do make a conscious choice to write every day. Writing every day even when I don’t know what’s going to happen next in my store helps figure out what IS going to happen next–mmm what do you know? Trust me I’ve been there and there’s really no way around it: you have to sit down and write.
However, once you do you might find that you need certain things with you! It’s all about comfort and motivation. I definitely need to have a cup of tea or a cup of coffee. Coffee if it’s morning or tea in the afternoons, but it really could vary. I also need to have my notebook and several pens and markers. I don’t color code anything I just like to use different colors to write my notes. I use yoga gloves to keep my hands warm while I type. They’re extremely helpful when I’ve been writing or typing for a few hours. Of course the obvious things like snacks, gum, lip balm and scents also are helpful. I have curated character playlists on Spotify for whenever I’m writing which helps SO much. Now it goes without saying that duh you’ll need your computer. 🙂
