Intro:
I thought about making an actual newsletter. And then I thought…nah, I’ll just post it on here. Someday I’ll have a newsletter (🤔 makes a note to learn the ins/outs of Mail Chimp…Substack). I’m playing with this format here, it feels cozy even though it’s out in the open. My name is Rosario and I am an SFF writer and a book blogger/reviewer of sorts. This blog is a bookish haven for books of all genres, not just YA or SFF, and overall a lot of writing related posts. My ‘reviews’ are more like recs because I don’t like spoilers and don’t focus my liking or disliking a book—some books are for me others are not but they might be for someone else. That said, I do like most of the books I read and specially the ones I post/write reviews for. Not to toot my own horn, but I have a pretty good eye when it comes to picking and reading books. *Just saying*
I am a writer working on getting traditionally published. So that’s also why you might see a lot of posts on writing. I started blogging a long time ago, #rip my food blog circa 2010, but after a few years I picked it up again, this time as a way to just write. I found it as a way to write through my own hurdles while writing, what’s been helpful, and what hasn’t. It’s soothing for me to write a post about something that I’ve learned works in my own writing, or something I find difficult, it’s finding ways to connect to other writers.
So I hope you (visitor, dear reader) stick around, there’s plenty more.
Books:
I’m looking forward to several Fall/Winter 2019 books and early 2020 books I don’t know how I’m going to get my own writing done. HALP!!
Also I’m already doing a massive round-up of books I HOPE to read during the colder fall months. Keeping my fingers-crossed I have some time to binge-read!
Writing:
✨I’ve been contributing to the NaNoWriMo Blog here’s the round up.

-
“Camp Pep: The Heart of Your Story is You”
-
“How to Begin Writing Every Day”
-
” “Writer” is the Word: Conversations in the Car Shop”
✨Writers Corner tag/category: Check out my new tag/category specifically for all writing and craft related posts.
✨NEW WIP: Speaking of NaNoWriMo I started working on my current work-in-progress back in April for Camp NaNo 2019. So far still working on it, and I like the shape it’s taking. Also it’s connected to my main book baby, my OG. Which brings me to my news below. 🤩
✨Editor-Writer Mentorship: Earlier this year I applied to an editor-writer mentorship hosted by The Word. My manuscript was chosen and I’m ready for this incredible opportunity.Â
✨Website: I made an author website! Finally!

Writing Resources:
I have been taking The Slow Novel Lab course with Nina LaCour. It has been such a refreshing and just amazing experience! The course is at your own pace with guided assignments, a forum for your classmates to gather and discuss, as well as monthly video chats with Nina when we all get together and talk about a specific writing theme. Nina also has a podcast called Keeping a Notebook (which is how I learned about the class) that has also been a genuine resource to my writing as well as my writing life. The class fills up fast!! So be on the look out if you’d like to sign up.
Congratulations on being chosen for the mentor ship!
