Camp NanoWriMo has begun y’all! In case you guys are not in the loop check out their website here. I am so excited to be a part of it this year since last year I missed all of the camp virtual write-ins and only caught up to it in September. So this feels like I’m coming to a complete circle in my writing journey. A year ago I made a decision to follow what made me happy in doing something that made me feel the happiest even through its struggles. So here I am a couple thousand words later.
Last summer I had a raggedy notebook from a time that felt so distant and new altogether. I read through my old scribbles about this story that I had been so determined to write but had sadly stopped writing. However, I didn’t forget it throughout the years that followed and always tried to make my way back to it. I am so glad that I did because it has been the most exhilarating experience as well as a hard experience. Writing is hard, anyone that says otherwise is not putting enough effort. Storytelling is hard, but it is the process that makes it all the more enchanting and exciting…it gives me a tingly feeling just thinking about it.
Here’s to #CampNaNoWriMo, a godsend place for writers and to the last 20,000+ words of my first draft.
