I thought it would be appropriate for my first post to be about my city Dallas. I moved to Dallas almost 20 years ago–that’s right almost two-whole decades ago and I barely have the wrinkles to show it. Dallas is a vast and beautiful city that has a lot of hidden gems within. It will surprise you like a toddler saying their first word and it will disappoint you like an ‘B-‘ on your Math final. But once you arrive here you will be enchanted.
Yes, everything is bigger in Texas. It’s just a fact of life, drinks are bigger, trucks are bigger, houses and yards are bigger, the food is bigger, you name it.
So here are some places where you’ll get more for your buck and time! This places are open late! These places are listed in no specific order or quantity.
A Little Bit of Everything
Bistro B : They are best known for their Pho which is priced pretty well for the amount. They also have a large variety of Vietnamese dishes. But Pho specially in the cold weather hits the spot. Prices range but most dishes are $7.39 and up. Also probably the only place where you can buy 4 egg rolls for $1.
Hours: Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu 7 am-12 am; Fri & Sat 7 am-2 am (Walnut Street Location)
Si Tapas : Tapas enough said. This place is right in the Uptown residences, this is a great place for a night out with friends or a romantic date. I recommend being seated out in the back patio it overlooks a nice private garden and if visiting at night it is lit by candles. Very atmospheric. They have a large variety of hot tapas, cold tapas, cold cuts & cheese, and wines! You can easily order for 2 people for $25-30.
Hours: Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu 11:30 am-10 pm; Fri & Sat 11:30 am-11 pm (Allen Street Location)
Taqueria La Paisanita : This is a taco stand. Do not let the location fool you. It’s located right in the middle of the parking lot of this Medical District shopping center. They have more than tacos I’ll leave it at that. Their tacos will satisfy that late night craving.
Hours: Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu 7:30 am-12 am; Fri & Sat 7:30 am-4 am (Inwood Road Location)
Italia Express : By far the most polite service and delish pizza AND great price per slice. Their pizza slices are $4 and they are large, the crust is not too thin or too thick it’s perfect, the cheese is awesome it will not leave you feeling heavy or overstuffed but will fully satisfy your hunger. They have ample seating room inside and patio seating in the front, firewood ovens, pizza is ready upon ordering so not much waiting, Italian coffees available.
Hours: Sun 10 am-12 am; Mon, Tue, Wed 10 am-12pm, Thu, Fri, Sat 10 am-3 am (Cedar Springs Location)
Village Burger : Hip and delicious burgers. Anytime you go this place will be busy, but somehow you WILL always find a table–no worries. This is the place to go if you’re looking for a nice burger that is at a good location, and no b.s. on any overwhelming ingredients. They have beef/turkey/chicken burgers as well as other items like paninis. You can either tailor your burger or you can choose from their ‘dressed up’ burgers. Champagne Burger and truffle fries are a must. Located right in the heart of Uptown definitely make it an outing Angelika and Magnolia Theatres are near by. There is another location on Inwood Road which is very family orientated and kid friendly.
Hours: Sun 11 am-10 pm, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri & Sat 11 am-2 am (McKinney Ave Location)
